Sikandar Raza Prioritizes National Duty Over PSLSikandar Raza to Miss Must-Win Clash as Lahore Qalandars Face Do-or-Die Battle Against Peshawar Zalmi

Lahore Qalandars face a high-stakes encounter against Peshawar Zalmi on May 18 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, in what could be their final match of PSL 2025. The equation is simple: win and qualify for the playoffs, or lose and exit the tournament.

However, the Qalandars will walk into this do-or-die clash without one of their most dependable players—Sikandar Raza.

Raza Prioritizes National Duty Over PSL

Nicknamed “Qalandars Ka Sikandar” by fans, the Zimbabwean all-rounder has confirmed his unavailability for the pivotal match due to international commitments. Taking to platform X, Raza clarified:

“National duty is the top priority for me, and once picked, I will honor and fulfill it. All reports of me missing the Test match are not true at all.”

He also addressed circulating rumors, stating:

“All the reports of me not returning to Pakistan are also not true.”

Despite his assurance of returning, it’s now confirmed that Raza will not be part of Lahore Qalandars’ lineup for the upcoming match—or the PSL 2025 playoffs, should they qualify.

Qalandars in a Tight Spot

With their star all-rounder unavailable, Lahore Qalandars must turn to their local heroes and remaining international players to step up under pressure. The absence of Raza is a big blow, especially in a match that determines the team’s survival in the tournament.

Will the Qalandars rally without their “Sikandar”? Or will Peshawar Zalmi capitalize on the setback and bring their campaign to a premature end?

The answers will unfold on May 18, in what promises to be a dramatic showdown in Rawalpindi.
