Aaqib Javed Proposes Major Overhaul in Pakistan Cricket Development Structure
In a significant move to uplift the standard of cricket in Pakistan, Director of High Performance, Aaqib Javed, has presented a comprehensive development plan aimed at reshaping the country’s player development pipeline. According to credible sources, the plan has already been formally submitted for approval and could soon mark a transformative chapter for Pakistan cricket.
A Vision for Sustainable Growth in Pakistan Cricket
The proposal is not limited to the national team alone. It covers a wide spectrum of talent—from Pakistan Shaheens and emerging players to age-group cricketers. The strategy emphasizes modern infrastructure, grassroots nurturing, and long-term player development.
Biomechanics Lab to Be Relocated to NCA, Lahore
One of the key reforms in Aaqib Javed’s plan is the relocation of the biomechanics lab from a local university to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. This shift will enable elite and upcoming cricketers to access:
- Cutting-edge sports science equipment
- Advanced motion analysis software
- Specialized injury-prevention tools

By centralizing this high-tech facility, the NCA is expected to become the hub of performance optimization in Pakistan cricket.
Revamping High Performance Centers: Faisalabad & Sialkot
The plan also includes the revitalization of performance centers in Faisalabad and Sialkot, which have long been underutilized:
- Sialkot will focus on nurturing Under-13 and Under-15 talent.
- Faisalabad will cater to Under-17 cricketers with long-term coaching programs and technical refinement.
This age-specific training model is designed to build technical strength from the ground up and prepare young players for future domestic and international challenges.
Strengthening the Bench at the NCA
Under the proposed plan, 30 to 35 players will be housed and trained full-time at the NCA in Lahore. These players will receive:
- Specialized coaching
- Fitness and nutrition support
- Mental conditioning
- Skill-based training aligned with modern cricket
This approach ensures that the national team always has a robust and ready pool of talent to draw from.
Expansion to Multan and Karachi
Aaqib Javed’s proposal doesn’t stop at Lahore, Faisalabad, or Sialkot. Two new regional centers are in the pipeline:
- Multan will house a dedicated Under-19 development center.
- Karachi will see the establishment of a specialized women’s high-performance facility—a crucial step toward promoting and professionalizing women’s cricket in Pakistan.

A Holistic Step Forward
This plan reflects a strategic, long-term vision for Pakistan cricket—balancing infrastructure with individual player development. If approved, Aaqib Javed’s proposed reforms could bridge the long-standing gap between raw talent and international readiness in Pakistan’s cricketing system.
As Pakistan cricket enters a new era, such reforms are not only timely but essential.
