Lahore, 13 May 2025 – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially appointed Aqib Javed as the Director of High Performance, taking a major step toward enhancing the nation’s cricket development structure.

Previously, Javed served as the interim head coach of the Pakistan men’s team across all formats. He led the side during recent tours of South Africa and New Zealand.


PCB Eyes Long-Term Gains with Experienced Leadership

Chairman Mohsin Naqvi welcomed the appointment and shared the board’s vision:

  • Represented Pakistan in 22 Tests and 163 ODIs between 1988 and 1998.

  • Served as bowling coach during Pakistan’s 2009 ICC T20 World Cup victory.

  • Worked as head coach of UAE, guiding them to ODI status and qualification for the 2015 World Cup.

  • Took on the role of Sri Lanka’s bowling coach in 2024.

  • Led Pakistan’s Under-19 team to a World Cup win in 2004.

  • Recently served as interim head coach for the Pakistan senior team across all formats.
