Shaheen Shah Afridi Hosts Team Iftar to Wrap Up Qalandars’ Islamabad Camp

ISLAMABAD – In a perfect blend of high-performance training and traditional hospitality, Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi hosted a grand Iftar dinner at his residence to mark the conclusion of the team’s pre-tournament preparation camp.

The event followed an intensive three-day conditioning stint at the Smart Qalandars High Performance Centre (SQHPC), signaling the squad’s readiness for the upcoming PSL 11 season.

Preparation Meets Tradition

The camp was strategically designed to acclimatize the players while observing the holy month of Ramadan. Under the lights at SQHPC, the sessions were held from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, focusing on tactical clarity and physical conditioning.

The Iftar at Shaheen’s home served as a vital “team-bonding” exercise. Beyond the strategy boards and net sessions, the gathering allowed domestic players and international stars—including Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza—to build chemistry in a relaxed setting.

Key Highlights of the SQHPC Camp

  • Inclusivity: The camp integrated players from the Prime Minister Youth Programme, giving emerging talent a rare opportunity to train alongside world-class cricketers.
  • Sports Science: Utilization of advanced performance analytics to monitor player fatigue and recovery during fasting hours.
  • Leadership: Shaheen Shah Afridi emphasized “squad gelling,” noting that the environment in Islamabad provided the perfect mental reset before the high-pressure tournament begins.

“The spirit of the Qalandars is rooted in brotherhood. Hosting the team at my home is about more than just a meal; it’s about entering the season as a family,” said Shaheen Shah Afridi.

The Countdown to Kickoff

With the Islamabad leg officially wrapped, the team will observe a short break for Eid-ul-Fitr before the final assembly.
