Lahore Qalandars

Lahore Qalandars, a Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise owned by Kausar Rana Resources Pvt. Ltd., was founded with a purpose that goes far beyond cricket. The team’s mission is to uplift and empower communities, giving back with the same unconditional love and care that a mother gives her child.

The name “Qalandars” draws from deep-rooted Sufi traditions of selflessness, humility, and spiritual strength. It embodies the spirit of those who live free from ego and materialism — much like the pure, nurturing nature of a mother’s love.

The story behind the name is deeply personal. Sameen Rana, the team’s Owner and Team Director, chose it to honor his late mother. While living in Canada, he lost his beloved mother and felt that returning to Pakistan would only make her absence more painful. But when the opportunity to own a PSL team arose, he found a way to keep her spirit alive. The name Lahore Qalandars represents two things: Lahore, the vibrant city the team calls home, and Qalandars, symbolizing his mother’s selfless nature and the timeless sacrifice of all mothers.

Even the parent company, Kausar Rana Resources Pvt. Ltd., carries her name — a lasting tribute to the woman whose love and values continue to inspire everything the team stands for.
